  • Many states differ in their dimensions on standard sheets.  Catcrete surface forms can be made to specification for the state you require, if different than New York.

National Standards are set by ADAAG, and variations are followed by the states. These variations can be located by visiting state DOT websites at the following link.   Alphabetical Listing of State Transportation Departments

TIPS
  • The use of color hardener and surface forms is an acceptable method in the New York State DOT Specifications.  Check your state regulations using the link above.

  • Requirements for warm weather states would allow many types of systems that would normally be affected by freeze and thaw cycles, salt and sidewalk plows.  Catcrete surface form used with color hardener will be a permanent application in warm weather.

  • Press and place or glue down applied DWS are subject to high temperature problems as well as winter conditions.

  • A poured in place DWS allows for exact directional placement of domes on a surface which will be solid and last longer than the surrounding sidewalk.

  • The use of color hardener allows for the DWS to be finished in a very short time and the ramp can be opened to pedestrian traffic in hours.

  • All DWS surfaces are subject to discoloration by road dirt.  The use of color hardener or colored concrete allows for a long lasting contrast in color.

  • The use of a good quality sealer/cure agent will enhance color in concrete.

  • Concrete surface formed DWS have the same slip resistance qualities as concrete sidewalk.

  • Concrete DWS will not peel up because exposure to extreme heat or cold conditions.
